King County Caregiver Support NetworkFor unpaid caregivers of adults age 18 and older. By helping to reduce caregiver stress, the network enables care receivers to remain at home and independent.

Providence Hospice of Seattlea not-for-profit, community-based hospice ministry, serving seriously ill patients in all of King County, Washington including Vashon Island. We provide comprehensive and compassionate physical, emotional, and spiritual care to people nearing the end of their lives - The Hospice team consists of a RN, Social Worker, Chaplain and Home Health AIde to assist with bathing needs. A doctor's order is needed to start services.  206-320-4000.

 

Providence Transitions: A home-based program that provides palliative care: relief from the pain, symptoms and stress of serious illness. It helps in supporting  patients, giving them information they need to make decisions as  their health changes & to help plan for expected changes as their illness progresses. Providence Home Services of King County:  Care includes RN visits and therapy for any chronic or acute illness depending on each individual case. Patients do not need to have been hospitalized to receive home services, but will need a Doctor's order to start services. Services include: Visiting RN, Physical Therapist, Physical & Speech Therapy. Emergency Food Vouchers for Thriftway & IGA Vashon Market: To arrange for vouchers call:

Food Bank  (Vashon): Located behind and above the Vashon Neighborcare Clinic.  Distribution days and times:  

  • Wednesdays: 10 a.m.-2p.m. , and 4 p.m. - 7p.m.  (No specific Senior hours)

  • Home Delivery option:  Thursdays  and Fridays -Call  206.463.6332 for information.  

  • Emergency food bags available.

Food Stamps/Cash Assistance:  The DSHS Van comes to Vashon every six weeks.

Free Meals Through the Week:  Currently the free evening meals are Sunday through Friday, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at       the Methodist Church only. They are take-out only at this time.  Check the Land Trust Building for Saturday evening meal distributions.

Child Strivehttps://childstrive.org/vashon/Early Support services are available to children ages birth to 3 years old who have a developmental delay or disability.  The team of providers includes a Family Resource Coordinator, Physical therapist, Occupational therapist, Speech and Language Pathologist, and Educator. The team provides developmental assessments free of charge.
